The School of Medicine, University of Dundee, is reinvesting and looking to appoint a number of outstanding clinical researchers in Precision Medicine, covering the spectrum from Big Data through to detailed experimental medicine, including the use of multi-omics data linked to electronic medical records and the use of our world leading bioresources to design and implement cutting edge patient centred studies in our key priority areas. A key component will be the implementation of a learning health system, with research closely coupled to impact on health care improvements. Applicants need to be driven enthusiasts with a desire to be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary research community with a core purpose to transform lives. Positions will be based on the University's Ninewells Campus, co-located with Ninewells Hospital (one of the largest Teaching hospitals in the UK.) 

Your priorities will include: 

  • Contributing to the international reputation of the School/University of Dundee in one of our key thematic area of Precision Medicine and building an independent research programme by securing external research or fellowship funding as a Principal Investigator 
  • Enhancing the breadth and quality of research in this area and the wider School environment and contributing to its future development 
  • Delivering a range of high-quality academic outputs that have demonstrable wide impact 
  • Supervising junior colleagues and postgraduate students (PhD, MD, MSc) 
  • Contributing to the School's research led teaching programmes 

Who we’re looking for: 

  • MD/PhD in a relevant subject 
  • Full GMC Registration 
  • Ability to produce research outputs of internationally excellent quality, and proven ability to generate external funding for research projects 
  • Ambitious research plans which will be competitive for RCUK, Wellcome, EU or equivalent funding streams and/or for industrial funding mechanisms 
  • Experience of University level teaching (or equivalent) with evidence of learning and teaching competence 
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills 
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others and effective team membership 
  • Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands 
  • Willingness to engage with UK and overseas student recruitment
