Public Health England provides strategic leadership and vision for protecting
and improving the nation’s health and reducing health inequalities. We do this through world-leading science, knowledge and intelligence, advocacy, partnerships and the delivery of specialist public health services. We are an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care, and a distinct delivery organisation with operational autonomy. We provide government, local government, the NHS, Parliament, industry and the public with evidence-based professional, scientific and delivery expertise and support.

The London Regional Director leads the PHE London team and is accountable for the delivery of consistent, high-quality services across the Public Health England delivery chain, including health protection and emergency planning advice, health improvement, healthcare public health, drug and alcohol specialist advice and workforce capacity building for public health.

The post-holder is also the statutory health advisor to the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the regional Director of Public Health for the new London region in NHS England/Improvement.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational and visionary public health specialist with proven senior leadership and management skills who will build excellent relationships with local and regional government in London and the NHS in London.

The candidate must be included on the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register.
