Are you a consultant looking for a challenging and rewarding career in Emergency Medicine?
If so, your application is invited to join our Emergency Department as a substantive Consultant. Based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage the post comprises of 11.5 indicative programmed activities (PAs) including on-call commitment.
This is an excellent opportunity within Emergency Medicine at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
The emergency services are provided through the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, within an hour’s driving distance and 25 minutes by train from both London and Cambridge. This is an opportunity to join the enthusiastic, dynamically progressing and forward-thinking modern Emergency Medicine team. The department has new attendances in excess of 100,000 patients per annum. There is a separate dedicated Children’s Emergency Department open 24-hours. The hospital also receives patients from the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance service and is a local trauma unit for the major trauma centre at Addenbrookes. The departments have 24-hour middle grade cover.
Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Stevenage hospital site. As a result Lister hospital has 24 hour cover for all the allied specialities of a large DGH on site improving the emergency care patient pathway including: Primary PCI, Stroke thrombolysis with stroke speciality cover 24/7, emergency endoscopy, dialysis unit on site, McMillian chemotherapy unit, interface geriatrians, vascular surgery, plastic surgeons, ENT surgeons, critical care, designated respiratory HDU, women’s and children.
