Posts with a variety of possible interest areas

We have opportunities for three enthusiastic anaesthetists to join our vibrant and growing department. These posts have arisen due to expansion of services and replacement sessions for trust, university, and external roles that members of our team have taken on. We are known for our research and innovation, but recognise that our success comes from a department which is supportive, cohesive, providing excellent standards of care, and where all members, particularly full time clinicians, have an equal standing. We are looking for new colleagues who share these values, and who can use them as a core upon which to build their career with us. We would be delighted to design a job plan with successful candidates to incorporate their specialty interests in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. As a trust we also have a wealth of other opportunities for Research, Quality Improvement, Leadership and Education.

Essential criteria:

Full registration with the GMC, GRCA or equivalent; current General Medical Council (London), Specialist Registration in Anaesthesia or equivalent experience.

Applicants who are within six months of obtaining CCT may apply.

University College Hospital is a major teaching hospital with twenty four operating theatres. It is a regional cancer centre and tertiary referral centre, with particular expertise in bariatrics, upper and lower GI, orthopaedics, urology, head and neck, paediatric, thoracic and endocrine surgery. The labour ward delivers 6,000 women a year and has a special interest in high risk medical patients including GUCH. A regional block room provides high quality analgesia and is a hub for education and research.

Our newest building, Phase 4 will open with a Proton Beam service and eight theatres late in 2020.

The hospital is committed to developing and delivering an individualised perioperative medicine package for all its patients. Our aim is excellence in clinical care, teaching and training and in research.

There will be an on-call commitment and/or weekend work for anaesthesia services. These are full time (10PA) positions.

Closing date: 23rd September 2019.

Candidates for interview are encouraged to visit the hospital. For further information or to arrange to visit the Department please contact: Dr James Holding (Clinical Lead), Email: or 020 34473348.
