Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health

The appointment will be on UCL Grade Clinical Professor. The salary range will be £80,075 - £107,204 per annum. The post holder will be appointed at an appropriate point on Annex B, inclusive of London Allowance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor (depending on skills and experience) who can integrate research, teaching and clinical work in clinical genetics.

The post holder will hold a substantive contract at UCL, spending 60% of their time as a UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (GOS ICH) academic and 40% of their time in a clinical position at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). They will have a leading role in strengthening collaborations between Genetics and Genomic Medicine Programme (GGM) and GOSH and developing /supporting new teaching opportunities such as MSc or similar programmes. 

The post will sit within the Genetics and Genomic Medicine programme and more specifically within the Genome Biology and Precision Medicine (GBPM) section. The post holder will have a major research interest in any area related to the research relevant to GBPM. This post represents an exciting and challenging opportunity to enhance the interaction between GOS ICH and GOSH.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Clinical Geneticist to develop this post while taking advantage of working within a world-renowned hospital that offers a unique service within the UK. You will be an integrated part of the team delivering clinical genetics care and advice to population of North East Thames Regional Genetics service and patients of Great Ormond Street through clinics (with a specialist clinical interest) and potentially provide support to the assessment of ward patients. 

The post holder will have a recognised leadership role in facilitating research collaborations between the clinicians at GOSH and academics in GGM and wider ICH and supporting and delivering teaching activities.

This post is designed for a clinical geneticist who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential in the area of clinical genetics and genomics. 

It is expected that the candidate will be a competitive clinical academic. Candidates must hold a PhD or MD, MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent, and be eligible for GMC Registration.  Completion of training and extensive experience in CCT in Clinical Genetics or equivalent. Eligible for CESR
