Applications are invited for a full-time Consultant Neurologist with a specialist interest in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to join an established, highly committed, multi-disciplinary MS team.
The post-holder will join 20 consultant neurologists, with a range of sub-specialist interests, within the Department of Neurology at North Bristol Trust (NBT).
The NBT MS team has an outstanding international reputation in the provision of specialist care, and in conducting research, in multiple sclerosis. The BrAMS (Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis) Centre was originally established at Frenchay Hospital to provide more comprehensive patient care, multi-disciplinary outpatient clinics, rapid access clinics and acute intravenous day case treatment as well as to conduct patient-based MS research, including clinical trials. The post-holder will join the existing 4 Consultant Neurologists within the MS team based in the Bristol Brain Centre, Dr Alastair Wilkins, Prof Neil Scolding, Dr Claire Rice and Dr David Cottrell. There is currently one highly experienced Specialty Doctor, Dr Kirsty Inglis, and a team of 5 MS Specialist Nurses, two physiotherapists and dedicated administrative support.
The MS service is delivered from the newly refurbished Bristol Brain Centre which affords an integrated clinical, research, and education space for the areas of clinical movement disorders, dementia and multiple sclerosis. The Bristol Brain Centre combines NHS, University and third sector organisations to support our activities.
The post is based at Southmead Hospital with 2 general neurology and 2 specialist MS clinics with some TIA clinic cover. General neurology and in-patient neurology is delivered from the £400 million state of the art Brunel Building.
