Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in foot & ankle surgery. This is a replacement, substantive post starting as soon as possible for the successful candidate.

The surgeon will need to be fellowship trained and fully competent in managing all aspects of foot & ankle surgery. The surgeon will also need to have in interest in the management of diabetic feet & will form part of the MDT at ELHT. The surgeon will be on the Orthopaedic on-call Consultant rota which is 1:8 managing all routine trauma. The surgeon will help to further expand our elective surgical services at Burnley General Hospital whilst also contributing in managing complex trauma patients at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The post holder will be primarily based at Burnley but will be expected to work flexibly across multiple sites.

We are looking for a team player with an enthusiasm for teaching and training. ELHT has a large number of junior doctors, which includes 10 ST Trainees from the North West Training Scheme.

The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team approach alongside of medical staff, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Clinical research, quality improvement and service development are actively encouraged.
