Consultant in Infectious Diseases
We are looking for an enthusiastic and able Consultant in Infection to join the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine and the broader Infection Services at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking a replacement consultant for our Infectious Diseases service based at Heartlands Hospital with additional contribution to our Trust wide clinical infection service. This post represents an exciting opportunity to practice clinical infection across a large Trust which includes tertiary and secondary care services and serves a diverse population of approximately 2.2 million people. The appointee will be expected to work across all sites within the Trust; Heartlands Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals. Suitably experienced applicants may also contribute to the Infection Service we provide at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham.
The Infectious Diseases department is fully integrated with HIV services and works actively with Medical Microbiology across the Trust. We manage a large OPAT service covering all clinical specialties and supporting admission avoidance; this is currently undergoing further expansion.
Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register in Infectious Diseases (or be within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of the interview) or hold an equivalent European qualification. In addition to this advertised post we expect to have further opportunities arising shortly within the Infection Service which will be suitable for applicants with both infectious diseases and microbiology training.
