Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models.  Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.

These posts are not recognised UK training posts.  Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to support career progression through other routes.

An Introduction to the Division/Specialty from Dr Sarah Robertshaw, Head of Clinical Service Emergency Medicine

The Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust has 2 Emergency Departments; a major ED based at Pinderfields Hospital and a local ED at Dewsbury Hospital.  All staff rotate across both EDs to ensure a wide and varied case mix and to maximise opportunities.  Pinderfields Hospital is a Major Trauma Unit and both EDs have separate 24/7 dedicated paediatric EDs.

Following a reconfiguration of acute and emergency services the majority of our in-patient care is delivered at Pinderfields Hospital.  90% of ambulance cases attend Pinderfields ED.  We are supported by a wide range of specialities and services including on-site psychiatric liaison team, 24/7 stroke assessment nurses, and well established ambulatory emergency care service.

Successful applicants will form part of a 30 person junior trainee team; there is a 3 EM specific day induction as well as 2 further separate 1 day EM study days.

These posts will be part of our cross site “junior trainee” rota – which is compliant with working time regulations and the 2016 junior doctor’s contract, averaging 48 hours per week.
