Remarkable People, Remarkable Location!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the forward thinking James Paget University Hospital in our Breast Team. The JPUH Breast Service was one of a few Trusts in the UK to take part in a pilot of GIRFT reviews for Breast Services. Members of the existing Team hold Regional and National roles. A member of our Team set up a world renowned MSC programme for surgical students. The successful candidate for this replacement post will join the team of existing Breast Surgeons. Our Breast Team is a standalone service and is not required to be a part of the Surgical On Call. The specialty is fully supported by experienced Breast Care Nurses.

The Trust is forward-looking and highly regarded within the local region. The James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) is a modern hospital with state of the art scanning and diagnostics.

The JPUH have been given an overall rating of “Good,” following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which took place in August 2015. This places us in the top 30% of acute trusts in the country. The Trust came out top in the East of England region on the 2016 GMC trainees’ survey results, reflecting our commitment to providing a high quality training environment and looking after our trainees as valued colleagues.

The Hospital is an active partner in the Norwich Medical School at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Approximately 1/3 of the undergraduate medical education is provided by the Trust. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to become involved in the undergraduate programme which could lead to an Honorary Senior Lectureship. There is also the opportunity for those interested in academic work to develop research with the UEA, with access to research facilities at the University.

The James Paget University Hospital is located less than a mile from long sandy beaches and is within commuting distance from several small villages. There is a wide choice of good local schools and competitive house prices. The roads are free from traffic congestion and residents enjoy a good quality of life with easy access to the natural beauty of the Norfolk Broads famed for its wildlife, walking, cycling and sailing opportunities. The historic city of Norwich is only 30 minutes away and has an international airport; there are excellent rail links to London and easy access to the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich for access to Europe.
