Relocation expenses and the Isle of Man NI scheme

For this post we also offer interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.

The Isle of Man is also offering a National Insurance Holiday Scheme which allows newly employed, relocated or returning residents to apply for a refund on their National Insurance contributions for their first year of living or returning to the Isle of Man, with refunds capped at £4,000. About the Post

Newly opened in 2003 Noble’s Hospital is the Islands’ only District General Hospital, situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards with a total complement of 317 beds; the site also houses a combined education and training centre equipped with a comprehensive library, study rooms, lecture theatre and a state of the art simulation suite. There is also a cottage hospital, in Ramsey in the north of the Island, where some Consultant clinical sessions are held.

Within this post you would be responsible for providing a quality service (together with consultant colleagues) in general and Geriatric Medicine to the people of the Isle of Man, along with taking the lead clinical role in the development of an OPAL and Community Geriatric Service.

Despite our small size, we provide most specialist medical services, delivered by our dedicated team. We are currently undergoing a significant medical services transformation programme at the moment, with front line acute medical care being delivered through a more generalised model rather than a specialised model, thereby ensuring all patients receive holistic medical care, where appropriate, with specialists able to take over with complex treatments where necessary.

In conjunction with this wider transformation, our geriatric service is currently undergoing significant expansion. The Isle of Man has an aging population and as a result a large proportion of the acute medical take have age related presentations. Our Acute Medical Unit admits over 7000 patients per year, with 82% of these admissions being patients over 75. Our nascent OPAL service provides support across all inpatient wards around management of older people in hospital, and has established links with many support services available across the island, including adult social care, therapies, reablement as well as third sector services. The OPAL team also act as gatekeeper to our community hospital, ensuring that appropriate patients are transferred there to maintain patient safety and also flow through the system.

We are looking for someone with great organisational, communication and team working skills to work with us to drive forward this service and ensure we continue to provide quality care for older people within Noble's Hospital.
