The MY stroke & neurosciences unit requires a Consultant to complement the current team providing stroke services for the entire Wakefield District, North Kirklees.  This position is a substantive post for Stroke Medicine.

You will join a team of 5 Stroke Physicians, Consultant Neurologists, Consultant Neurophysiologists and a Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation.  You will assist in delivering holistic patient focused care by multi-disciplinary and multi-speciality collaboration. The post is expected to support the entire pathway which will cover Hyperacute services currently being 1:8, acute stroke unit and the rehabilitation units as well as providing on calls for thrombolysis both out of hours and weekends. The consultant is expected to support running of the TIA clinic which is held every day of the week.

The Neurosciences Unit provides a sub-regional Neurological Service to parts of West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.

The appointment will be on the basis of the new consultant contract laid down by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service and will be remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale £77,913 - £105,042 per annum.
