East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS organisations in the region, employing over 10,000 staff and serving a population of almost 800,000 residents. By merging Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, we can provide the latest treatments locally, and be in a stronger position to save, grow and strengthen the many hospital and community services our residents rely on.

We are an ambitious trust with a simple vision, to provide the communities we serve with excellent healthcare and build a better future for the people of east Suffolk and North Essex. To help us do this, we will work closely with our local partners to deliver more of the joined-up services and care our residents need.

We want the best staff. You want to make a difference.

For our staff and our patients, we have the same philosophy: time matters. This new way of working will remove unnecessary stress and frustration caused by the systems we use and the way we work. We will concentrate on removing or improving the things we do that don't work for our patients. For our staff, this means more time to care for patients and greater opportunities to develop skills and experience.

To be the best, we need to attract and keep the best staff. Our size puts us in a strong position to grow, providing more of the latest services. Our scale provides exciting opportunities for development, innovation, research, education and training. Support from technology and logistics will help us see patients at the right time.

So, if your ambition matches ours, it’s time to work together.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic teams within the Oncology departments at Ipswich and Colchester Hospitals, part of the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This position will mainly be based at the Ipswich Hospital site, however there is an expectation in keeping with our Clinical Strategy for cross-site working.

It is envisaged that you will work according to an agreed job plan, in order to maintain a service embracing all aspects of Oncology including solid tumour chemotherapy and technically advanced radiotherapy (if a clinical oncologist). The proposed tumour sites are Upper GI and Gynae-oncology as the principle tumour sites, however there is scope to negotiate the preferred site-specialisation according to the interests of applicants.

To be successful, you must be eligible for full GMC registration and hold FRCR or European equivalent if a Clinical Oncologist, or MRCP if either Clinical or Medical Oncologist.

This post will be either permanent, full-time or we will consider a fixed term contract of 12 months as a Locum Consultant position for the right candidate.

If you are looking to relocate, we are open to negotiating an attractive relocation package in order to secure the right candidate to join our Trust.

Applicants or prospective applicants are encouraged to visit both the Ipswich and Colchester departments and to meet prospective ESNEFT colleagues. Arrangements for visiting or any enquiries can be made by contacting Dr Liz Sherwin, Clinical Lead, by telephone: 01473 704908 or email:
