Applications are invited for a Consultant General Surgeon. An interest in General Paediatric surgery and management of the diabetic foot is expected. The post will involve the surgical assessment and management of diabetic patients with a close working relationship with the Diabetic Multi-Disciplinary Foot Team. A background of vascular surgical experience would be advantageous. The job plan includes elective operating (in-patient and Day Surgery) and elective clinics. The consultant will take part on the general surgery consultant on call rota. The position will be based at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust (Watford General Hospital and St. Albans City Hospital). Applicants will be expected to provide a full range of emergency general surgery

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust was formed by the amalgamation of Watford, St Albans & Hemel Hempstead Hospitals Trust on 1 April 2000. The Trust provides health services for approximately 650,000 people who live in the five local authority areas of Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans, Three Rivers and Watford. Overall the population is relatively affluent, but there are pockets of health inequalities, particularly among people living in the South West of the county.
