We are delighted to invite applications for Consultant posts in Emergency Medicine. The excellent team of EM Consultants have a passion for delivering high quality emergency care. NBT ED is a leading academic research centre, and the professorial department recruits to a wide portfolio of studies and secures research grants. The skills of the ED staff extend beyond the department into RCEM, NICE, PHEM, Expedition & Military Medicine, Stroke, Chest pain research as examples.
The Emergency Department is the Adult Major Trauma Centre for the Severn Trauma Network. The EM Consultants provide shop floor cover, including late shifts and an overnight resident Trauma Team Leader service. This expansion will allow increased senior shop floor presence during hours of greatest need, matching senior staffing to patient demand.

A beautiful part of the UK with impressive architecture and top performing schools and higher education the city boasts appeal to individuals, couples and families.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to work in this busy, thriving, enjoyable emergency department and trauma centre, the largest in the South West. In addition, we are seeking to enhance the skill mix of our current Consultant workforce.
Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine, (FRCEM or equivalent) have CCT in Emergency Medicine or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from Southmead Hospital, Bristol, for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.
