Consultant Ophthalmologists x 4
with special interests in Paediatric Ophthalmology or Glaucoma or Medical Retina 

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals Ophthalmology Department is looking for 4 additional permanent consultant ophthalmologists with special interests in paediatric ophthalmology, glaucoma and medical retina. These are new posts to strengthen the current team of 10 full-time consultants. 

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large acute Trust in West Surrey and one of the largest in the region. Ashford Hospital lies close to Heathrow Airport. St Peter’s Hospital is situated between Chertsey and Woking. The two hospitals serve a diverse population of around 450,000 on the borders of Surrey and Middlesex. This area includes Woking, Chertsey, Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Ashford, Staines, Bedfont, Feltham and Spelthorne.

Ophthalmology clinics take place every day at both Ashford Hospital and St Peter’s Hospital, with additional outreach clinics in Woking and Hounslow. Day case surgery takes place in dedicated theatres at Ashford Hospital with paediatric and other selected surgeries at St Peter’s Hospital. You will be expected to develop and maintain a high standard of practice and take an active role in all activities of the Department, including Teaching and Audit.   

The posts are substantive posts based across both St Peter’s and Ashford Hospitals and the timetable will include both subspecialty and general clinics with regular theatre lists.
