Applications are invited for the above post for this 650 bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 310,000. This full-time appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).

This is a replacement post. The appointee will join the four full-time and three part-time consultants. On-call arrangements are shared with Bedford, with a 1 in 8 weekend rota and full middle grade cover.

The Hospital is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and good working relationships. Our Foundation Trust status has enabled considerable expansion in facilities, staff and hence the services offered.

The Teaching Hospital status with UCL and the Royal Free has strengthened our teaching and Research and Development programme and brings a more academic environment to the hospital. Our links with undergraduate students with UCL and Royal Free Hospitals have an excellent reputation for junior staff training.

Residence is required within ten miles by road or up to thirty minutes travelling time of the hospital.

Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register. Specialist Registrars may apply if within six months of CCT at the date of interview.

Candidates who for personal reasons are unable to work full-time are invited to apply. A job share would also be welcomed.
