NHS England is looking to recruit a Clinical Director to support national clinical commissioning policy development for drugs, devices and other specialised interventions. As well as broadening your professional development in shaping national policy, you will work with leading experts in a wide range of clinical specialties at the forefront of medical advances.

The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership and oversee training of the national clinical policy team including clinical policy fellows and leads (direct reports). You will make recommendations for policy topics entering the work programme; form policy working groups; work closely with the clinical effectiveness team to define and commission evidence reviews; utilise expert clinical advice and challenge as needed; take on board findings from stakeholder and public consultations; and apply judgement to uncertainty to arrive at a recommendation.

You will be a senior consultant or clinical academic on the GMC specialist register with a current licence to practice, or UK public health register. You will be a team player who is able to work at pace, an excellent communicator, with skills in practicing and training others in evidence based medicine. Experience in policy development, academic writing or health policy research is an advantage.

Regular travel to and within London is required (an alternative local main work base may be possible). We are seeking a full-time or part time appointment or secondment, minimum 4 days per week for up to two years.
