Consultant/Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine​

Up to 8 Sessions plus 2 additional sessions for on-call

This new post provides an excellent opportunity to join a progressive Hospice which has an established reputation for excellence in clinical practice, research and education.

Strathcarron Hospice is an independent Hospice and the principal provider of specialist palliative care to NHS Forth Valley and to Cumbernauld/Kilsyth in the NHS Lanarkshire area.

The Hospice delivers a comprehensive range of services and facilities including:-

  • A team of Community Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • A Hospice @ Home service
  • A 24-bed inpatient unit
  • A 20-place day hospice
  • A specialist lymphoedema service
  • Consultant support to Forth Valley Royal Hospital including ward rounds and teaching
  • An education department with an active programme of education including a well-established annual clinical conference
  • A research programme with the Hospice seeking Research Active Hospice status

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of our services across the healthcare spectrum including developing a model of care that integrates community and Hospice care.

Joining a full multi-disciplinary team and a medical team of four other Consultants and four Specialty Doctors; you will also provide specialist palliative care support to Forth Valley Royal Hospital. We are a training unit and usually have a Specialist Registrar and a GP in Training.

Strathcarron Hospice actively participates in the development of palliative care both locally and nationally and the successful candidate would be encouraged to develop areas of special interest.
