CONSULTANT INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST
We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in coronary intervention to join a team of 14 cardiologists. In addition to general cardiology commitments the post holder will undertake a range of elective and acute coronary intervention, including primary angioplasty.
We provide a tertiary interventional cardiology service for Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and parts of North Yorkshire, performing 1600 interventional procedures per year. As the regional Heart Attack Centre, we provide 24/7 PPCI for a population of 1.2 million, performing 550 PPCI procedures annually. This is currently provided on a 1:7 rota but discussions are ongoing to reduce this to 1:8. Our facilities include a dedicated cardiothoracic department with 4 cardiac catheter labs providing interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and device procedures. We perform the full range of coronary interventions including complex angioplasty, left main stem PCI, CTO and rotational atherectomy. We have access to rotational atherectomy, coronary laser, coronary lithotripsy, IVUS, OCT and pressure wires. We are developing our structural interventional services and offer a fully commissioned TAVI service.
The Hull University Teaching Hospitals provides a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites with some specialist services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million. The Trust forms part of the Hull / York Medical School with both the NHS Trusts and Universities of Hull and York. With an annual budget of circa £520m and employing approximately 8,500 staff, we are committed to the continuous development of services for the benefit of patients and to providing a comprehensive service of the highest possible quality.
Already a vibrant and dynamic city, Hull’s vision is to be one of the UK’s top ten destinations for shopping, art, sport, leisure and most importantly, living. A huge amount has already been spent on creating new shopping centres, waterfront living spaces, art studios, office complexes and visitor attractions such as the Kingston Communications Stadium and The Deep – the world’s only submarium.
The region also boasts a diverse coastline ranging from award-winning sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs. Inland you’ll find mile upon mile of green, unspoilt countryside and woodland that are perfect for walking, cycling or horse riding. And if you like exploring, there are endless historic towns and picture postcard villages within a short driving distance from Hull. Right now, housing is plentiful, varied and affordable, and there is a fantastic selection of high-quality schools to choose from.
Please include in the additional information section of the application form; the name of you current responsible officer, their contact details and your date of revalidation.
