We are keen to appoint a dynamic Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our team of 54 Consultant Oncologists working in Oxford (22 of whom are University appointments). The 10 PA post is available at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from August 2019.
The post specialises in Lung, NET and Melanoma, and will work in collaboration with existing Medical and Clinical Oncology colleagues, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse and Pharmacist prescribers, as well as other members of the multidisciplinary team across these tumour sites.
Consultant input will also be provided to the well-established Acute Oncology Service at the John Radcliffe Hospital, which is supported by two acute oncology nurses, who coordinate ward rounds in the JR 5 days per week.
The Oncology department in Oxford moved into a new £110M cancer centre in 2009. The early phase trials team run by the Oxford University Department of Oncology is fully integrated with the NHS department, and there is a full NIHR/CRN funded late phase research team to support recruitment into clinical trials and to ensure opportunities for all patients to be involved in clinical research.
The department works closely with the University Department of Oncology, including the CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology and Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. The CRUK early phase trials unit and Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre also provides access to early phase trials. With the other research departments, these provide excellent opportunities for collaborative research.
Candidates are highly recommended to visit the department and hospital and are invited to contact Dr Meenali Chitnis, Clinical Lead Lung Oncology on 01865 23520 and Prof Bass Hassan, Clinical Director of the Oncology and Haematology Directorate on 07739113503.
