Job description
Job responsibilities
This is a 10 PA post (7.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA) in the Comprehensive Stroke Service. The calibre of the applicant is more important than their base specialty and we are looking for someone comprehensively trained in stroke medicine.
There is the potential for a clinical leadership role within the department for a suitable candidate with appropriate skills, support and training.
The Stroke Unit was set up under the London reorganisation of stroke in 2009 and operates to very strict audit and quality standards. We provide 24/7 thrombolysis and comprehensive rehabilitation with an early supported discharge team. Particular strengths of our service are our multi-disciplinary working and our commitment to research, recruiting to studies covering all stages of stroke.
The Unit has been consistently highly rated on the SSNAP audit and has won awards for its clinical leadership and research.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and post graduate teaching and be involved in the departmental audit and research.
Northwick Park is a large district teaching hospital in North West London. Transport links to the West End and the shires are excellent with local facilities and both private and public schooling among the best in the country.
Applicants should have full GMC registration and experience, evidence of specialist stroke training and a CCT in any stroke parent specialty or be close to their CCT date. Applications are welcomed from Doctors within 6 months of their CCT, or CESR in Stroke medicine, and existing consultants looking to relocate.
