Clinical Fellow in Endo-Urology (ST6+ Level)
Ref: SM198490
Applications are invited for a twelve month Clinical Fellow (ST6+ Level) in Endo-urology post based at the Department of Urology, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland.
The post is suitable for candidates who have experience in Urology overseas or within the UK, and wish to progress their career further with a view to portfolio development, or overseas candidates who wish to expand their training and acquire experience of working in a high-volume tertiary referral unit in the UK.
The fellowship will include a training programme in Urological surgery similar to that delivered to our trainees within the department. This will be tailored to the individual, but will primarily aim to expose them to a whole range of Endo-urology procedures (including Ureteroscopy, PCNL, Endoscopic Cystolithotripsy, ESWL and HOLEP) to develop a subspecialty interest in Endo-urology. The candidate will work with a team of 3 endourology consultants, a specialist uro-radiologist, a stone specialist nurse and 3 radiographers. The team runs a weekly stone MDT meeting with a well streamlined service.
This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training
The post-holder will also participate in the Urology middle grade on-call rota (1:8) on an emergency/elective split. It would be expected that the candidate would work closely with the Health Services Research Unit and Aberdeen Academic Urology to increase their academic portfolio in the dedicated time given for this purpose. Aberdeen has an excellent reputation for clinical training and research, and as this is a professorial unit we would encourage the candidate to undertake some research culminating in peer-reviewed publications while in post.
Candidates must possess MBChB/MBBS and MRCS (or equivalent). Specialist qualifications (e.g. FRCS Urology, FEBU or equivalent) are desirable, but exam support can be given if required including study leave for preparatory courses.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org
