Cardiology Consultants (Imaging) with GIM on call rota element

Applications are invited for aLocumConsultant in Cardiology Imaging with Acute Medicine on call. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department within Ealing Hospital primarily, although Cardiology Consultants are expected to work at all sites of the Trust delivering outpatient care and to liaise with colleagues and GPs.

The job has been created to support 1:15 Acute General Medicine on call rota in Ealing hospital and to grow Cardiac Imaging service in London North West Hospitals NHS Trust.

Successful candidate will take part in Acute GIM rota in Ealing hospital (approximately 1:15) and Cardiology Consultant of the week rota (1:9).

LNWH is one of the busiest and most active acute Trusts in London. Our emergency departments are already very active, but we are not standing still. We have strong vision for the future, including the expansion of both our physical resources and workforce, alongside significant capital spend on a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre at Ealing Hospital, which opened in August 2024.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

 

  • CCT in Cardiology (or expected within six months of interview)
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • ALS certificate (active)
  • Sub-speciality training in Imaging (Echo and non-echo cardiac cross-sectional imaging)

Desirable

 

  • MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Level 2/3 accreditation in CT
  • Level 2/3 CMR

Registration
Essential

 

  • On GMC registered Medical Practitioner GMC specialist registration or within 6 months of CCT
  • Entry on Specialist Register in Cardiology

Knowledge & Expertise
Essential

 

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in cardiology with evidence of achieving sub-speciality training.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of complex acute medicine patients
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of acute medical emergencies
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Proficient experience in all aspects of echocardiography and CTCA (imaging post)
  • Broad based general professional training in general medicine

Desirable

 

  • NHS experience within the last 3 years
  • Experience in CMR

Teaching
Essential

 

  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff

Desirable

 

  • Training in medical education including work-based assessments, educational supervision and appraisal

Research & publications
Essential

 

  • Experience in research and potential to develop and execute clinical research projects

Desirable

 

  • Relevant research publications in peer-reviewed journals
