The Deputy Medical Director (Quality, Safety and Clinical Transformation) is responsible for supporting the Medical Director to provide clear leadership and direction in respect of clinical quality and medical safety and improvement at the hospital to ensure excellent patient care.This role will have delegated authority from the Medical Director to provide clinical oversight and strategic leadership for the following:o National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NATSSIPs)o National Patient Safety Alerts o Patient Safety Incident Investigation (PSII)o Elective Clinical Harm Review Leado Clinical Pathway transformation o Consento Health Inequalities o Shared decision making o Clinical audit o Getting It Right First Time o Learning from Deaths o Martha's rule and Call for Concern
The safety of patients is a paramount concern for the NHS. This post will provide senior medical leadership for patient safety, clinical governance and mortality surveillance working with relevant clinical leads, associate medical directors, and stakeholders such as the Integrated Care Board and the Care Quality Commission.
Main duties of the job
To support the Director of Transformation by actively leading engagement with clinical colleagues to provide appropriate activity to implement transformation projects which will have a positive impact on clinical service delivery, patient pathways and improve patient care.
Work to harmonise clinical procedures, guidelines and practice across all three acute providers.
Be a key member of the Digital Transformation Committee to support the review and improvement to clinical systems and processes across the organisation including preparation for the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), which will streamline processes for clinical staff and improve patient care.
To be the Trust Clinical Lead responsible for strategic direction and oversight of the implementation, development and improvements related to National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NatSSIPs) guidance.
Take strategic responsibility for clinical service, policy development and implementation, particularly relating to national or regional initiatives, directives from NHS England (NHSE), the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other national bodies including the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), Health Protection Agency (HPA), Department of Public Health Commissioners.
