The Department of Gastroenterology is seeking a full-time (10 PA) Consultant Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Nutrition who will help us to meet the challenges of our expanding clinical, academic and training portfolio and to keep theservice in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job require :Participating in out-patient and in-patient gastroenterology/Nutrition and endoscopy service activity.To play a significant role in the continuous improvement of the service and offer excellent care to the growing number of parenteral nutrition patients.Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful appointee will be responsible for:1. Part of the team responsible for the delivery of acute luminal gastroenterology services together with 1 registrar, 1 CMT and 2 FY doctors.2. Outpatient services for patients with gastroenterological/Nutrition disorders,based on clinic template in line with the Royal College guidelines (4 new and 8 follow-ups)3. Separate independent rota of inpatient services for Nutrition patients based at Northwick Park Hospital (mix of Type 1-3 Intestinal Failure patients and set up of Home Parenteral Nutrition) as part of a team of three consultants, supported by a full Nutrition Support Team (advisory team, without dedicated inpatients) working in tandem with the Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit at Central Middlesex Hospital.4. Inpatient management of some allocated general medical patients while on the luminal gastroenterology ward 5. Participate in the delivery of the endoscopy service

4. Inpatient management of some allocated general medical patients if on the gastroenterology ward
5. Participate in the delivery of the endoscopy service

Essential
- Broad based training in Gastroenterology and its subspecialties
- Broad based general professional training in general medicine
Desirable
- NHS experience within the last 3 years
- Skilled in endoscopy
