Job Details
The Southern Trust is seeking to recruit a dynamic and dedicated Consultant Dermatologist. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and an inclusive leadership style to provide and develop a strong patient focused service, throughout our outpatient services, day procedures and spoke clinics.
The base for this post will be Craigavon Area Hospital, however the post holder will be required to work on any site within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
Whilst the appointee will have complete clinical independence, it is expected that he/she will work with his/her Consultant colleagues on a team basis. The successful applicant will provide general Dermatology services to the trust area.
This is a 10 programmed activity (PA) job plan with 1.5 (PA) supporting professional activity (SPA). The person appointed will share outpatient services and day procedures in the hub site at Craigavon Area Hospital and be responsible for spoke clinics in Daisy Hill Hospital (DHH). While the work programme will be negotiable with colleagues following appointment, it is foreseen that there will be 3 outpatient sessions at Craigavon Area Hospital including a surgical clinic and two outpatient’s clinics in DHH, plus a teledermatology virtual clinic. The remaining sessions will be clinical administration and SPA time. The weekly job programme can be amended depending on the sub-specialty interests of the appointee. There is a clinical governance meeting at 11am every Thursday morning followed by a local skin cancer multidisciplinary meeting (LMDT).
The Dermatology Service is changing in response to developments in clinical practice, treatment modalities and the requirements of purchasing boards and GP Fundholders therefore changes in job plans will be necessary from time to time to reflect these changes and their impact upon service delivery to the patient.
Administrative and audit duties including those associated with the care of patients and the running of his/her department will be part of the post.
There will be a commitment to provide secretarial support and an adequately equipped office, including IT facilities.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to:
- Participate actively in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students as required;
- Participate actively in research activities, especially those which are an inherent part of the normal clinical duties.
- Offer a relevant sub-specialty interest in Dermatology.
If you would like any additional information about this post, the specialty
