Job Details
Manchester University Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Clinical Fellow doctor at CT1/CT2 level in General Surgery across the WTWA site. Present vacancies are across the surgical specialties from August 2024
The posts are suitable for doctors who have completed Foundation or Core Surgical Training. These posts are for 6-12 months but can be extended up to 24 months.
Candidates must have an active license with the GMC at the point of application. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work closely under the direction of the General Surgery Consultants and Specialty Registrar Trainees with duties to include day-to-day inpatient care, operating with and assisting senior team members in theatre and Out-Patient clinics.
The out-of-hours commitment will include a full shift rota at 1 in 12 frequency

- MBBS or equivalent

- Full registration with GMC with a current licence to practice
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- 6 Months NHS experience
- 2 Year's post-graduate medical experience
Desirable
- 1 Year NHS experience
- Foundation or Equivalent experience
Clinical knowledge and expertise
Essential
- Demonstrates appropriate technical and clinical competence and evidence of diagnostic skills and clinical judgment
- Competent to undertake General Surgical on calls at JCF level
- Experience of supervising FY Doctors
- Able to manage common medical emergencies
- Demonstrates good research & audit skills

- Ability to work within a team
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other individuals
- Awareness of own limitations and when to ask for help
