Post CCT interventional fellowship / Senior Clinic Fellow
MFT Wythenshawe Thoracic oncology unit has an opportunity for two enthusiastic, self-motivated Post CCT or senior trainees, to join our expanding team. The role will give the candidates the opportunity to hone their skills in interventional bronchoscopy, pleural disease and lung cancer screening.
Posts are available with immediate start dates.
Successful applicants will work with the Thoracic Oncology department in a team of 5 fellows, gaining experience in the rapid cancer clinic, and procedures including linear EBUS, AFI bronchoscopy, radial probe EBUS, Navigational bronchoscopy and soon to be robotic bronchoscopy. There will also be opportunity for experience in pleural procedures with local anaesthetic thoracoscopy, indwelling pleural catheters, chest drains and ambulatory pleural vents.
The post holder will work in the rapid HSC clinics, pleural clinics, and support specialist ward referrals. There will be the opportunity to undertake research projects and present at conferences. This will all help build their portfolio prior to taking up a definitive Consultant post with an interest in Pleural Disease/Intervention/Lung Cancer. Equally registrars in training who wish to increase their expertise of procedural skills whilst consolidating their respiratory training.
Main duties of the job
The posts will be focused on all the elements involved in the management of lung cancer pathways, from early detection with screening to management of complex lung cancer and pleural disease. They will offer the post holder the opportunity to further develop interventional skills including endobronchial skills with other pleural and minimally invasive thoracic techniques.
In addition to the interventional procedures the post-holders will be involved with the full diagnostic pathways from screening triage, outcoming of screening investigations, rapid access lung cancer clinics, Cancer and Pleural ward consult service, MDT, including specialist pleural MDT, teaching, research & Audit and service development.

- MRCP or equivalent Trained to Level 1 in thoracic Ultrasound
Training and Experience

- In final year of specialist respiratory training or within one year of completion
- Independent at Bronchoscopy
Desirable
- Some EBUS experience
- Some experience in Indwelling pleural catheter insertion and thoracoscopy
