This post will commence in December 2024 and is fixed term for 2 years.
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.
This post is to provide medical leadership for a pilot project to develop ambulatory chemotherapy for paediatric and teenage patients undergoing chemotherapy in Leeds Childrens Hospital. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the project nurse and with the pharmacy project lead to develop ambulatory chemotherapy for our patients. This is a two-year fixed term project, which we anticipate will develop a service which will become standard of care. Working 2 days a week (0.4 FTE) on this project, initially the post holder will develop a project plan for the ambulatory chemotherapy service. The second phase will be to implement the plan, to carry out the patient consent for participation and to supervise the initiation of ambulatory treatment on a Monday and Tuesday. The post holder will supervise the medical care of the patients on treatment and will review the outcomes after each course has been administered later in the week.
The post holder will communicate with the rest of the inpatient and day unit team and will provide written summaries for the parent, the GP and the local paediatrician where appropriate.
