Job Details
The post is for Forensic Psychiatry, based at Littlebrook Hospital, Dartford.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician for up to 15 patients in the Allington Centre and provide psychiatric care during their admission including 6 monthly CPA reviews.
The post holder will be involved in the assessment of suitability for admission to the low secure services in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. It is anticipated that referrals will arise from the Adult Services including referrals from the Criminal Justice Services, PICU and from other Gatekeeping assessments that arise as directed by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Provider Collaborative.
Patients discharged from the service will require follow-up from their local community Mental Health teams or Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service team and there will need to be liaison with these teams to achieve this aim.

Main duties of the job
- The Appointee will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team in the care and treatment of a full caseload of 15 inpatients, restricted and non-restricted.
- The Appointee will act as a Responsible Clinician within a multidisciplinary team.
- As part of the multi-disciplinary team, they will take part in assessments of new referrals, pre-admission planning, management of inpatients and discharge planning.
- The post will require liaison with other agencies, including the Ministry of Justice, police, probation, social care and other mental health services.
- Yearly appraisal assessments and job planning reviews will be undertaken by the consultant for the low secure service who will in turn be responsible to the Clinical Lead for Low Secure Services and ultimately the head of Psychiatry,

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Additional clinical qualifications

- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
