Fixed Term Consultant in General Paediatrics

NHS Grampian invites enthusiastic applicants for a Consultant in General Paediatrics, based within Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. These are fixed term posts, until June 2025 and September 2025. The successful applicants will contribute to the Consultant out-of-hours rota for Medical Paediatrics in addition to being Consultant of the week on pro rota basis.
The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has a total of 93 beds, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient care in Medical Paediatrics and its sub-specialities, General Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Orthodontics, Ophthalmology, Clinical Genetics and Child and Family Psychiatry. The Department of Community Child Health and a purpose built Child Protection suite are located within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. RACH has its own Accident and Emergency Department under direct Consultant supervision. There are approximately 8,000 attendances annually of which two thirds are acute admissions. The Paediatric service is delivered by a total of 22 Medical and Surgical Consultants, 10 Associate Specialists, two Specialty Doctors and 15 RCPCH Trainees.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
