UHMBT are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to apply for a newly created acute consultant paediatrician vacancy based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary on the doorstep of the Lake District, England's largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site

We are seeking dynamic, motivated and ambitious individuals who will enhance our established and expanding team of consultant paediatricians. You will play a vital role in the delivery of healthcare for Children and Young People across the Morecambe Bay Footprint with the ability to work independently, but within a supportive, forward thinking and collaborative team.

An area of special interest to complement those already available in the Department is welcomed and can be discussed. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in Paediatric Neurology/Epilepsy and would support the pursuit of a SPIN module if required. We would also support candidates in developing a special interest in these areas if that interest is new to them.

Main duties of the job

Royal Lancaster Infirmary provides a 1:8 on-call, to cover both the acute paediatric service and the Local Neonatal Unit, where we operate a separate consultant of the week model for both the paediatric ward and the neonatal unit.

The vacancies would be attractive to individuals looking for either full or part-time employment, working for an organisation who actively promotes a healthy work and home life balance. This beautiful part of the country enables you to discover spectacular landscapes, picturesque villages, along with a warm welcome and rich cultural heritage. Whether you want to take time to explore the fells, splash about on the lakes, take a wild adventure or simply enjoy the peace.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical Care units and various Consultant-led services.

We are working towards becoming a truly inclusive organisation by celebrating inclusion and diversity, and are committed to eliminating discrimination, reducing health inequalities, promoting equal opportunities and respect for all of our colleagues and patients.

We are working hard to enhance the health and wellbeing of our workforce, improving the quality of their working life and valuing their contribution to high quality patient care. Our Flourish at Work is a big part of that.

This post would also be attractive to individuals looking for either full or part-time employment, working for an organisation who actively promotes a healthy work and home life balance.

The successful applicant may be entitled to assistance with removal and other associated expenses for those who may be required to move their home to take up employment with the Trust.
