Are you a committed Haematology Consultant driven by the implementation of best practices, adept at performing intricate procedures, and dedicated to fostering relationships with esteemed medical colleagues?
We are presently in search of a Lead Specialist Clinician, recognised as our "Resident Consultant," to serve as the primary clinical expert within our private patient ward. This pivotal role involves being the go-to individual for our Private Consultants and Specialist Nurses and providing essential support to enhance the structure of our medical team.

Location: HCA Healthcare UK, onsite at UCH, London
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time (20 hours/week) Thursdays and Fridays
Salary: £92,766 - £109,633 FTE (dependent on skillset & years of experience)
Key responsibilities include supervising the delivery of high-quality care by our junior doctors, providing instruction, and executing complex procedures to maintain our standards of excellence.
This role, forming part of a full-time job share, will be based at HCA Healthcare UK facilities within University College Hospital NHS FT. HCA UK at University College Hospital is a dedicated private unit offering expert care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
The role presents the opportunity to collaborate directly with the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a world-leading clinical trials facility specializing in the development of new therapies and precision medication for cancer patients. As the research arm of HCA's global cancer institute, SCRI is the first trials unit outside of the NHS to offer new anti-cancer drugs in clinical trials.
The Resident Consultant is designed to complement our existing team and will encompass the following areas: Clinical expertise, supervision and education of junior doctors, service development including clinical governance, audit, and research.
• Provide professional leadership, assume continuing responsibility for the clinical service, and offer clinical expertise in the daily operations of the unit and clinical care delivered to all patients. Clinically accountable to the named private practicing Consultant.
• Serve as a Clinical Expert role model, performing clinical procedures such as bone marrow aspirate and trephine, and administering Intrathecal chemotherapy.
• Prescribe chemotherapy as per relevant clinical protocols.
• Coordinate the junior medical team to ensure continuity in patient care, enhancing patient experience.
• Promote and lead relevant research projects on the unit and with SCRI. The publication of case reports in peer-reviewed journals is encouraged under the supervision of the Medical Director.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) On the specialist register, recognised at Consultant level to practice in the UK Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in haematology.
- Experience in supervising and teaching trainee physicians.
- Passionate about Haematology and Oncology Services, consistently striving for excellence through audit and research.
- Role Model, able to lead a team through effective communication skills and influencing teaching skills.
