Job Details
Applications are invited for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Hand and Wrist, based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic forward thinking team of Orthopaedic Surgeons with a range of special interests, including lower limb arthroplasty, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow and hand and wrist.
The orthopaedic sub division is supported by a full time Consultant Orthogeriatrician and an accompanying team.
The proposed AAC date is 27.09.2024.
Main duties of the job
Whilst the successful candidate will work the majority of their time at Leighton, there will be occasions where it will be necessary to work at Victoria Royal Infirmary, Northwich for outpatient clinics.
The successful candidate will provide a rage of duties including elective operating, trauma operating, elective and fracture clinics, MDT and on-call.

The post is offered at 10PAs with 8 PAs on average allocated to DCC and 2 PAs on average allocated to SPA.
There is a requirement for the successful candidate to participate on the on-call rota and this is currently 1:12 weekends and 1 weekday every 3 weeks.

- Full GMC registration and LTP
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview). CESR or European Community Rights.
- An appropriate higher qualification in Trauma and Orthopaedics
- ATLS

- Specialist Registrar Training or equivalent in Orthopaedic Surgery
- An understanding of departmental management
