An exciting opportunity is available at the Wales Fertility Institute (WFI) to work as a Locum Consultant in Reproductive Medicine for 6 months.
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic consultant to join our team.
Wales Fertility Institute was set up in 2013 as the regional provider for tertiary care fertility services in South Wales and is hosted by Swansea Bay University Health Board. Wales Fertility Institute offers an NHS and fee-paying service to patients wishing to access diagnostic or fertility services. The Health Board fully promote service development within all its services and supports an exciting longer term plan for Wales Fertility Institute.
Our highly qualified team of consultants, embryologists, nurses, laboratory, administration and counselling staff offer a friendly and supportive environment to patients seeking fertility advice and treatment to help them reach their goal of becoming a family.
As a service, we place great importance on our University status and have strong educational links to the Colleges of Medicine in Swansea and Cardiff as well as the College of Human and Health Science in Swansea.Participation in educational programs, audit and research will be encouraged and supported.
Main duties of the job
This is a full-time post within the Fertility Centre. We aim to support all patients that access our services from initial referral to the hospital, throughout their treatment until their family is complete. The post is based within our Medical Team structure.

Qualifications
Essential
- MRCOG or equivalent
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration and license to practice
- Post CCT Consultant
Desirable
- Sub-specialty accreditation in reproductive medicine
- Higher degree (PhD, MD)
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in general fertility and assisted conception
- Detailed working knowledge of HEFA
- Relevant training in reproductive medicine
- Able to work without direct supervision in the field of fertility/assisted conception
- Able to work and fulfill the demands of a busy, complex clinical service
- Experience of supervising junior staff and teaching medical students and nurses
- Experience in teaching, training and involvement of clinical research
- Experience of Audit relevant to Obstetrics/Gynaecology

- Publications in recognised high impact journals
Management. experience and knowledge

- Evidence of management and administrative experience
