The appointee will work on Rainbow Ward, the Local Neonatal Unit, the Paediatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) and Outpatients Clinics. The appointee will be responsible for: Ward Rounds on Rainbow and the Local Neonatal Unit, seeing children in the PECC in a timely fashion, attending to any emergencies immediately, including on Labour Ward, Outpatient Clinics (all of those are off site and into the community at various sites) and Child protection assessments under Consultant supervision The Child Health Directorate sits within the Surgical Division and the directorate covers all areas of Paediatric and Child Health services in both Acute and Community settings.
Main duties of the job
Close relationships at management level are in place between the Acute, community and mental health providers to promote integrated child health services across both hospital and community sectors. You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice.
An Enhanced DBS with Children's barred list will be completed for the successful candidate

- Full GMC Registration
- OET/IELTS
- M.B., Ch.B or equivalent
- APLS or equivalent
- NLS or equivalent
- Safeguarding Qualification or relevant experience

- Further Degree
Experience
Essential
- At least 3 years' experience as SHO or higher in Paediatrics (equivalent experience considered)
- Experience must include General Paediatrics and Level 2 Neonates
- Safeguarding experience

- Tertiary Neonatal experience
- APLS Instructor
- NLS Instructor
- Safeguarding Level 3 training
Skills

- Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, their parents and other relatives and with colleagues in all disciplines
- Well organised
- Interest in gaining further experience in Paediatrics
Desirable
- Membership of appropriate professional societies e.g. RCPCH/ISPAD
Knowledge

- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit
- Understanding of the role of research

- Completion and/or Publication of audit projects
- Experience of clinical research, presentations and publications of original studies, review articles, etc. relevant to speciality
