Base: ADDICTION SERVICES SITES (Cameron Hospital / Whyteman’s Brae Hospital / Lynebank Hospital)

The post is full time 10 session (40hrs/week) post in Addiction Psychiatry. A request for part-time position will be considered. You will be working with Addiction Services, based in Addiction Services sites Cameron Hospital / Whyteman’s Brae Hospital / Lynebank Hospital), under the supervision of an identified consultant.

You will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive range of services in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team to patients with addiction problems. Clinical duties will include medical and psychiatric assessment, prescription of medication, and diagnosis and treatment of co-morbid disorders, physical examination, organisation of appropriate investigations, creation of care plans, completion of risk assessments and communication with primary care and other stakeholders involved in the patient’s care and wellbeing. You will be required to attend appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.

Addiction Services in Fife are community based with in-reach to general hospital beds. You will be expected to be part of a number of outpatient clinics – including rapid access clinics, review clinics, alcohol (including alcohol brain damage) clinics, benzodiazepine clinics, buvidal clinics and review clinics.

The work will at times include emergency work within working hours. If the postholder is not a s22 Approved Medical Practitioner, there will be an expectation that they seek AMP training and will actively participate in the assessment process and application of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act2003.

They will be expected to cover for colleagues during absences in line with local arrangements.

There is no on-call commitment.

Par-time hours will be pro rata.
