Clinical Directorate
The University of Liverpool (the original red-brick) is pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for applications for appointment to the newly created Ivens Fellowships, named in honour of Dr Frances Ivens (1870-1944) the first female consultant in Liverpool. In 1914 she was asked by the French Red Cross to run the newly formed Scottish Women’s Hospital in Royaument for the French Army and was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Legion d’Honneur.
There are up to 4 positions available, as a clinical lecturer for up to 4 years, moving on to a consultant grade senior clinical fellow if CCT is achieved within that time. There will be an automatic progression to a tenured clinical senior lecturer/consultant post, subject to confirmation in the appointment process. The positions will be 50% academic and 50% clinical working in one of our partner trusts depending on the area of clinical specialty.
These posts are targeted at future world-class research leaders. Candidates should have evidence of their potential research excellence through successful grant awards and high-quality publications and should hold a PhD or equivalent qualification.
Applications are welcomed from medically qualified doctors in any clinical specialty which relates to our existing University research strengths.
The University is an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applications from women and those from an ethnic minority background. The University of Liverpool also welcomes applications from those wishing to work part-time.
