Job Details
We are seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Oxford Road Campus (ORC, although there may be a requirement to work across our other sites). The role is primarily to support the Gynaecological reporting service, however other specialties will be considered based upon local need. Full and part-time applicants will be considered. Pay will be on the appropriate point of the Speciality Doctor scale based on prior experience. This is a 12 month post in the first instance.
We are linked to the University of Manchester Medical School and there are opportunities for teaching and research locally. The department is part of the HENW North West training rotation and the successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in the teaching and training of Biomedical Scientists and Specialty trainees in Cellular Pathology.
Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK cellular pathology training program.
Main duties of the job
You will join a team of 22 other full and part time Consultants in the Adult Histopathology Department at ORC who provide a reporting service for a variety of specialties including Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Dermatopathology, Head and Neck, Ophthalmic and Urology. The main responsibilities of this post would be:
1) Participation in gynaecological histopathology reporting.
2) Participation in gynaecological histopathology dissection.
3) Involvement in appropriate clinicopathological and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
4) Contribution to the training and supervision of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists.
5) Contribution to the audit programme within the department.
As this is a Specialty Doctor post, all aspects will be subject to competency assessment and sign-off.
