Senior Clinical Fellow posts in Paediatric Surgery & Urology at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital (ST 4-8)

Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Paediatric Surgery at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff.

The successful applicants will work within the department led by Seven Consultant Paediatric Surgeons.

Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board offers a full range of Regional Specialties for children in Wales. This comes at an exciting time in the development of Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales, with the successful opening of the Phase One (2005) and Phase Two of the new building in March 2015, and the completion of a brand new neonatal unit in 2019.

We are a teaching health board with close links to Cardiff University. The University boasts a high profile teaching, research and development role within the UK and abroad. Together we are training the next generation of medical professionals. Whilst the post is not recognised for training, we offer successful applicant excellent educational opportunities, equal to Deanery trainees, including study leave budget and rotas.

References will be required to cover a minimum of three years of previous employment and/or training. A satisfactory disclosure check will be required of the successful applicants.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of care to surgical paediatric patients. S/he will work with the paediatric surgery team and rotate around the various clinical areas. Areas to be covered include Gwdihw Surgery Ward, HDU and the neonatal unit. This provides a wide variety of clinical experience in a large teaching hospital. The postholder will also be required to manage elective and emergency admissions in these clinical areas. The rotation will be discussed with the postholder on taking up the post.

The provisional shift pattern will be a 1:8 Non Resident Oncall rota (NROC) with night time support by the Hospital at Night team. The Rota is EWTD compliant and is regularly monitored.
