A vacancy exists for a full-time Staff Radiation Oncologist at NT Radiation Oncology, Darwin, Northern Territory. We are also proud to announce an appointment opportunity with the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research (ABC) project team, for the successful candidate.

About Northern Territory Radiation Oncology (NTRO)

Northern Territory Radiation Oncology (NTRO) is the sole provider of radiation oncology care in the Northern Territory.  NTRO is equipped with two Elekta Agilty Linacs, Monaco TPS, Mosaiq OIS, and a Toshiba CT. Our treatment techniques include IGRT, IMRT, VMAT, DIBH, SABR and SRS.

NTRO is part of the multidisciplinary team at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre (AWCCC) within the Royal Darwin Hospital. AWCCC is an accredited RANZCR training site of the RANZCR SA/NT Network.  It has a long-established collaborative link to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and other major hospitals in South Australia for professional development and peer to peer collaboration.

The NTRO clinical team is participating in the Australian Bragg Centre (ABC) for Proton Therapy collaboration with SA Health.  This creates an opportunity, for a suitable candidate, to be formally appointed and allocated time to participate in clinical training and research programs at the ABC. The position could be crafted to suit oncologists at all stages of their career.

We work closely with Charles Darwin University and the Menzies School of Health Research on educational programs and research, and as a result our team is recognised nationally for its achievement in improving the cancer outcomes of First Nation Australians.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated appropriate clinical, management, research and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with modern Radiotherapy techniques including IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, DIBH, SBRT and SRS.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in safety and quality improvement.
  • Essential Requirements
  • MBBS (or equivalent) and FRANZCR
  • AHPRA Registration with the National Medical Board of Australia
  • Meet the requirements for credentialing and Scope of Practice in Radiation Oncology in NT Department of Health

The position has opportunities of interest to candidates at all levels of experience. The significant collaboration and regular meetings with the team in the RAH department of Radiation Oncology provides mentorship and excellent clinical support. In addition, the unique engagement with the ABC is an exciting opportunity to be part of the national proton therapy project.

Please email your application, curriculum vitae and the name of two referees to NTRO Practice Manager by clicking the Apply button

For further information we would welcome you to call Ms Elly Keating on 0406 736 446 or A/Prof Michael Penniment, Director NTRO and Clinical Head of Australian Bragg Centre, on 0401123762.

Arranging a position overseas is very exciting, but we understand that it can also be daunting and time consuming.  We’ll help manage the Medical Registration and Visa application process, and support you (and your family) with the relocation itself.
