Job Details

We are pleased to be able to offer 2 posts as Fellows in Medical Education within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust for the next year - starting August 2024. Please see the attached job description for more details.

These posts are open to all StR1-7 doctors in training (though, if on a training scheme, you must have already completed the first year of either your core or higher training). Those planning on taking time out between core and higher training are also encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job

These posts have been developed to support the teaching of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT). They are designed to support doctors who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career.

Person Specification

  • Primary Degree in Medicine


  • Evidence of post-graduate study in medical education
  • Evidence of training in simulation debriefing


  • Experience of delivering simulation training


  • Experience of teaching undergraduate students
  • Experience of delivering simulation training
  • Experience of setting up educational projects
  • Experience of producing project reports to deadline
  • Experience of running the technological aspects of education and training initiatives


  • To exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility as delegated by the consultant in charge

Skills and Knowledge

  • To exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility as delegated by the consultant in charge.
  • Ability to work through a collaborative multi-disciplinary framework
  • Ability to contribute to effective team working. Capacity to prioritise workload.
  • Must have good skills in communication with patients, relatives, colleagues and staff of other organisations. Good spoken and written English.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with a range of professionals.
  • Must have interest in research and commitment to people with mental health problems, and their carers.
  • Must have experience of teaching medical undergraduates and have an interest in teaching Interest in participating in research
  • Experience of delivering individual psychological treatments

Knowledge / Skills

  • Excellent oral communication skills to facilitate trainings, elicit challenging conversation in an engaging and constructive way with a diverse professional group
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent IT skills


  • Knowledge of pedogogical theory
  • Knowledge of simulation training theory and technical requirements
  • Knowledge of techniques to collect and analyse data
  • Academic writing skills and communication skills
  • Sophisticated team player motivated by achieving joint aims and objectives
