This is a Senior Clinical Fellow post (ST3+ equivalent) working on a full shift rota in all areas of the Emergency Department.

Wexham Park is a busy Emergency Department seeing approximately 125,000 patients a year, of whom over 25% are children. We are a designated Trauma Unit within the Thames Valley Trauma Network. The Trust was rated 'Outstanding' for urgent and emergency services in the last CQC inspection. In 2019 we moved into a new £50 million Emergency Assessment Centre purpose-built building for emergency and urgent care. The ED is based on the ground floor and has 8 resuscitation cubicles, 10 initial assessment cubicles, 30 majors cubicles and a dedicated area for minor injury patients. The integrated paediatric ED has 10 cubicles and its own separate waiting room. Radiology is situated centrally in the department with 2 plain-film rooms and there is a CT scanner adjacent to the resuscitation room. Ultrasound facilities are also available in addition to POCUS machines within ED itself.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties will involve daytime, evening and night shifts providing clinical care in the Resus, Majors, Minors and Paediatric ED. Wexham Park Hospital has a very diverse population, and we see a wide range of clinical pathology. As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will be involved in the initial assessment and resuscitation of sick patients including emergency procedures and investigations. Overnight you will be expected to lead the department, working closely with the Nurse-in-charge and providing support for more junior doctors.
