A middle-grade Psychiatry doctor, often referred to as a psychiatrist, holds a critical role in the field of mental health. Their job description involves a range of responsibilities that focus on diagnosing, treating, and managing various mental health conditions. Here's a general outline of their job description:

  • Conducting thorough assessments and interviews with patients to evaluate their mental health, emotional well-being, and potential psychiatric disorders. Using diagnostic tools to identify and categorize mental health conditions.
  • Developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs, which may include medication management, therapy, counselling, and other therapeutic interventions.
  • Prescribing and monitoring medications for mental health conditions, adjusting dosages as necessary, and evaluating their effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Providing various forms of psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), or other evidence-based modalities to help patients manage their symptoms and improve their mental health.
  • Providing immediate psychiatric care and intervention in emergency or crisis situations, such as suicide attempts, severe psychotic episodes, or acute mental health crises.

  • Start date: ASAP-ongoing, no end date yet.
  • Days per week: Monday-Sunday
  • Shift pattern: 09:00-21:30 & 21:30-09:00
  • Pay rate: £40 per hour (depending on experience).
  • Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies.

The minimum requirements for the role are:

  • Valid GMC.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Clinical attachment complete.
  • Minimum 3 months paid UK experience.
  • AC Status essential.
  • S12 desirable.
