Job Details

The post holder will contribute to the psychiatric assessment and management of patients in inpatient and community settings under the supervision of consultant staff and working with other medical staff and members of the MDT. Participation on the ECT rota.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to maintain registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise.

The appointment will be covered by the Oxford Health Trust terms and conditions. The Trust has adopted the National Terms and Conditions for Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales). Doctors can claim travel expenses for work and educational commitments (as agreed) off base.

The post holders will be responsible operationally to the Chief Executive and accountable professionally to the Chief Medical Officer of Oxford Health NHS FoundationTrust.

Qualifications
Essential

  • General medical qualification

Desirable

  • Some or all parts of MRCPsych or equivalent

Training
Essential

  • Shall have completed at least 3 years' full-time Postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.

Ability
Essential

  • To exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility as delegated by the consultant in charge

Skills and Knowledge
Essential

  • To exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility as delegated by the consultant in charge.
  • Ability to work through a collaborative multi-disciplinary framework
  • Ability to contribute to effective team working. Capacity to prioritise workload.
  • Must have good skills in communication with patients, relatives, colleagues and staff of other organisations. Good spoken and written English.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with a range of professionals.
  • Must have interest in research and commitment to people with mental health problems, and their carers.
  • Must have experience of teaching medical undergraduates and have an interest in teaching Interest in participating in research
  • Experience of delivering individual psychological treatments
