Job Details

An exciting opportunity is available for the development of a new practice in the Maybury (western boundary) area of Edinburgh. Expressions of interest are invited to provide primary medical services under a General Medical Services Contract in new premises with the potential to grow the list to 10,000 patients.

The vacancy would suit those who want to grow and lead a primary care team as it develops new ways of working and builds its patient list; at the same time as providing traditional primary care services.

The new premises Maybury Medical Practice, Suite 2, 13 Turnhouse Road, Edinburgh, EH12 0AX are owned by City of Edinburgh Council. The expectation will be for the practice to have a tenancy agreement with NHS Lothian.

These premises have been purpose designed to support the delivery of modern general practice care and will be collocated with a new primary school also serving this rapidly growing area of the city.

This is an excellent opportunity to improve health outcomes and develop innovative ways of working. NHS Lothian would welcome applications from interested parties that will deliver high quality primary medical services responsive to the needs of patients. As well as delivering essential services, the successful provider will be expected to offer a range of additional and enhanced services.

We anticipate that a GMS service will be required for c2000 patients in early 2025 and growing steadily thereafter.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Jeremy Chowings, Deputy Medical Director Primary Care NHS Lothian:
