Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. 

This is a full-time post created through reorganisation. It is available immediately and will be based at St John’s Hospital (SJH), although daytime critical care work and out of hours critical care on call will take place at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh (WGH).

The Consultant will be responsible for the continued care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the department. The posts will have 10.0 Programmed Activities

(PA). 8 PA of DCC (Direct Clinical Care) and 2 SPA (Supporting Professional Activity), it may be possible to re-organise PA in order to accommodate specialist interests. 1 EPA may be available.
