Consultant Gastroenterologist
with a subspeciality interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

We are seeking a dynamic substantive, full-time consultant gastroenterologist with a subspeciality interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

You will join a team of eleven gastroenterologists at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust who enjoy working together and supporting each other.

You should be a competent clinician and endoscopist with a CCT in gastroenterology and general medicine and experience working within the NHS. To complement our team, you should demonstrate interest in managing complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We have a dynamic IBD team with 4 experienced IBD nurse specialists, regular MDT meetings and close links to our colorectal colleagues. We are seeking to expand our team to manage our demand, develop new treatment pathways and increase our research portfolio for the benefit of our patients.

This post has 10 programmed activities. There is a 1:10 on-call rota for “consultant of the week” inpatient cover and overnight on-call for GI bleed.

We are looking for the prospective candidate to start as soon as possi-ble.

The Trust have agreed a proposal for up to 1PA of SPA time/week to be worked flexibly.

This change is in line with the Trusts’ flexible working agenda and recognition of the enormous contribution that this group of staff continue to provide to our staff and patients.

Successful candidates will be also eligible for a relocation allowance of up to £12,000 (if required).

Closing date: 31st January 2024. Interview date: 21st February 2024.
