We are seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow to work within King's Liver Hepato-biliary & Pancreatic and Liver Transplant service to provide and further develop these services for our patients. The post holder will also work on the Hepato-biliary & Pancreatic Surgery on call rota. The post holder is expected to cover all emergency on-call work, usually through the Acute Surgical Unit

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the HPB consultant surgeons. The post holder will gain a broad experience in all aspects of HPB & general surgery.

The post is offered on a 12 month, fixed term contract. The post holder will receive training in duties of the post as necessary.

Job responsibilities

You have a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being ofyourself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital in additionto any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilitiesassociated with this post. The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make toinfection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygienerequirements of this role. These requirements are set out in the National Codeof Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures which willbe made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training.These standards must be strictly complied with at all times. To observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of King's CollegeHospital NHS Trust together with all relevant statutory and professionalobligations. To observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relatingto patients and staff. To be responsible, with management support, for their own personaldevelopment and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues. All employees must hold an '' email account which will be the Trust'sformal route for email communication. You are therefore required to checkthis regularly and to deal with such communication promptly.

Person Specification
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • ALS (or equivalent) within 2 years.
Training and Experience
  • Equivalent to SpR year 4 in General Surgery.
  • oPrevious experience in HPB surgery
Research and publications
  • Previous involvement in research projects
